I am not embarrassed to admit it…I USE FAKE FLOWERS. While I love fresh cut flowers, I do not always have the time or the budget to adorn my house with these beautiful splashes of color and freshness. So, sometimes, I use fake flowers. But I try to use them carefully and when possible, in combination with real leaves or twigs. Not all fake flowers are created equal. The dusty ones in your dentist's office or the ones you remember from your childhood when you visited "Auntiee so and so with the cats" are not the type of fake flowers I am talking about. Silk flowers, paper flowers and plastic flowers have evolved so much that it is hard to often tell whether they are fake or not. The goal here is not to trick people…the goal is to create a few simple floral arrangements that you can put away and take out at a moments notice if you feel your home is looking a little less than fresh and splendid. Mudo Concept carries the French line SIA and a few other brands that are very close to the real thing. Many other retailers from IKEA to Beymen Home have lots of options to choose from…but choose carefully:
Here are four faux arrangements I really like... And here below are a few of my faux flower experiments. As you can see I keep re-using the same flowers in different arrangements and vases as the need arises…
What are your thoughts on faux flowers?
