We celebrated my darling younger daughter's third birthday this past weekend and as she insisted on a FROZEN theme and as it was a Sunday Brunch (avec les parents) this 50 person birthday required that I carefully balance adult and child appeal. It also of course had to be SPLENDIDLY PRINCESSY (as nothing else will do for a three year old) and it had to be SIMPLY UNCHEESY for me to enjoy it as well. Simplicity was also imperative as I did not have caterers and did not order anything other than the cake and the carrot cake cupcakes…
I was exceptionally lucky to have had a friend in the US at the time of the planning to pick up all of the FROZEN branded children's decorations as none exist yet in Turkey. And since I was hosting the event at our residential complex's restaurant (which houses neither a fridge nor cutlery nor plates nor nothing but spectacular decor), I had to plan and shop carefully for items which I would be able to reuse at another event and which would fit in with the uber hip/urban feel of the restaurant's interior design.
So, as always, I went to IKEA…and bought the simplest items which matched the Elsa and Anna gowns…I planned to have a very basic but colorful buffet table with all glass server ware and as per usual I used vases and other decorative glassware to add interesting shapes.
I decided to cluster all of the decor into two simple bunches to make the splendid colors pop.
Apart from the tea, coffee and ice cold water and soda I served a minted fresh lemonade and a rose wine/prosecco/soda/fruit concoction in two large glass decanters with nozzles (which I purchased from ISTOC-Cerci Züccaciye).
Take a look at the simple items and inspiration photos I used to pull the event off…The first photo above is the poster I designed and hung as a focal point above the children's candy/treats buffet and the last three photos are actual photos from the event.
