Easy, Delicious and Nutritious: Lunch in a Jar

Picture
IKEA HEMSMAK COLLECTION
I haven't written in a long while. I would like to blame IKEA for my extended silence. They haven't introduced any interesting products for a while and as a result, I have lacked inspiration. Wouldn't it be great if we could just blame IKEA for all of our woes? Actually, I haven't written because I have been very busy creating content and programs for my training and consulting business. But, two days ago, inspiration hit me like a thunderbolt at a two day public speaking workshop I was delivering for a group of senior-level managers. And so, I am back...trying to add a little more simplicty and splendour to our lives...

Read on to find out how busy executives will benefit from IKEA's new HEMSMAK collection.
The winds of change are blowing furiously all around us...and I don't see the storm quieting down at any point in the near future. While we figure out how to cope with all of these major changes, we still have to continue to take care of the little things. Such is life. One of those little things that requires our constant attention and care in life is: LUNCH.

The modern labourer is able to access this midday reward in a variety of ways:
  1. some comrades are offered meals by their employers in a loud, bright and smelly space called the "work-place cafeteria"
  2. some are encouraged to bring their own food from home to consume somewhere either alone or with the other comrades
  3. some are directed to neighbouring food-serving establishments to "dine out" at lunch time

Your company's culture, location and resources will definitely set the stage for your midday re-fuel...but ultimately, YOU and you alone are responsible for how you spend this precious time and the choices you make about this "meal-at-work".

The company that I was training for last week has just moved their headquarters from a bustling, vibrant, happening, central, urban, "downtown" location to...to...to...well, let's just say, elsewhere. As such, this company's employees are having a very hard time adjusting to this drastic location change which is one of many, many things that are rapidly changing in their daily lives. Minor details such as transportation, parking, toilets and access to food and COFFEE still need to be figured out.

It appears that the new neighborhood is not equipped to serve the hundreds and hundreds of employees which have just moved-in. (P.S. Great business opportunity). So while enterprising entrepreuneurs figure out how to better serve these new hungry clients, I am suggesting that IKEA and I be of some service...

I'll provide inspiration, IKEA (or Crate and Barrel or Carrefour or Tantinoni or N11.com... the list is endless) will provide products and YOU, should you wish, will do something very, very out of the ordinary for Turkish corporates and start bringing a packed lunch to work. I ate a packed lunch almost every day for 20 years. Once you get in the habit of packing a lunch...you might not ever go back...

You sometimes need to get creative with solutions to life's little (and big) problems...here is some inspiration...once you get your jars or bento boxes or whatever mode of stylish transport you prefer for your gorgeous greens and grains, you can start experimenting with recipes...

ENJOY & AFIYET OLSUN...
By the way, while you are starting to get in the habit of packing your lunches from home...it might help if your kitchen/pantry is organized in the following manner :-)))

I never realized that we can use jars in this way. Of course, we all use jars to store a number of food, but we never store meals in jars. Well, maybe I am just a little bit ignorant to this, but I am really thinking that I might be able to do something great. Of course, I am not saying that this is new to everyone, again, I am saying that it is news to me. I hope that I can use this method too
