No Pottery Barn Kids, No Restoration Hardware Baby? Don't despair...

Picture
I often find myself online perusing the websites of a variety of retailers that offer beautiful furniture and decorations for kids. I get excited when I find beautifully patterned linens, coordinating accessories and simple rugs which would look wonderful in my children's rooms (or any room for that matter). I love the styling of Pottery Barn Kids, Restoration Hardware, Land of Nod and All Modern. While all of these stores range in style from slightly country to uber-modern, they all have a huge selection of items which you can easily mix and match to create your own style. Sometimes I have my shipping costs calculated, discover that my shopping cart of items totaling 69USD is going to cost me 669USD to ship to Turkey and start crying at the injustice of it all. But don't despair…this is where I come in to rescue you from this very important "first-world problem" (in-other-words a frivolous problem in the grand scheme of things but non-the-less important if you have a particular task at hand).
Most people who know me well know of my obsession with decorating, with room makeovers, with finding deals and with up-scaling IKEA products. They also know that I have two daughters for whom I am constantly decorating or fluffing rooms…I get a lot of questions regarding where to find this or that product, how to achieve such and such look or requests to design rooms from scratch.

We don't often have huge budgets to change our children's rooms (or for any room makeover for that matter) but sometimes a few simple pieces of functional furniture + carefully coordinated soft furnishings from different local retailers is all that is needed to create a Pottery Barn Kids or Pottery Barn Teen look without the luxury of shipping things here from the US or having things custom made (as is often the preference of Turkish consumers). I just don't have the time nor the energy to work with carpenters or big design firms. I want my room refreshes to be economical and finished in a jiffy.

So here are four inspiration boards I have prepared for your girl's room makeovers before September arrives and everybody rushes back to school. All of the products I have used are local: IKEA, Nar Modern, Albero Home, Apolena, Beauty Crafts and a whole slew of other lines/products available from online retailers such as Pera Bulvarı, or Bonvagon or Evidea or Morhipo or N11.

All of the products featured in these inspiration boards are available will deliver to your house in less than two weeks for about 20 TL or often free.

The trick here is to not shop from only one source such as IKEA and to not limit yourself only to "KIDS" sections. You can mix and match to your heart's content based on a color palette, your functional needs and your design style. All of the room refresh budgets are under 2000 TL's and most only cost around 1000 TL's for all of the items.

Enjoy these teen-tween boards and please let me know if you have any questions or comments…

P.S. I have used a lot of the usual suspect: PINK but, also love doing rooms in less girly colors...

I am one of your biggest fans believe it or not. I don't have kids as you know but I have my Little Geniuses and I am always re-decorating the classrooms. I moved to a fabulous new location in Tarabya and I am looking for fun scatter cushions and new carpets. Point me in the direction of the right website pls
Thank you carol

I have absolutely been there. Dear Baby: sorry I put the gate up and locked you in your room so I could pee, in private, for the first time in three years.

Based on many doctor's recommendation, it is said that the babies' safest sleeping position is to lie within their backs. So a good baby crib accessory to consider is a sleeping pad. A good sleeping pad can support your baby even when they toss and turn while sleeping.
